Exactly! So let us start with that conveyor belt. What is actually happening biologically when that fast forward button gets pressed?

Well, in a typical body, a skin cell takes about twenty eight days to be manufactured deep down and then move up and eventually flake off.

It really is. You cannot catch it from someone and you cannot pass it to anyone else. It is entirely an internal mix up.

Well, knowing it is an internal glitch causing this pile up, it makes total sense that it would not look the exact same on every single person.

Oh, absolutely. It presents in very different ways. Plaque psoriasis is definitely the most common, like ninety percent of adults have that type. But the actual appearance changes a lot depending on your underlying skin tone.

Exactly. So, on lighter skin tones, that increased blood flow makes the plaques look salmon or pink. And they usually have those very classic silvery white scales.

Yes. When you get a scratch or a bug bite, your body naturally sends immune cells to the site to repair the tissue. But because your immune system is already primed to overreact, the repair process spirals completely out of control.
